Alexandra Suriya Kim

Alexandra Kim, a 16-year-old from Pasadena, CA, began playing the violin at age 4. Under the tutelage of Dr. Cheryl Scheidemantle, she has received numerous accolades, including from the American String Teachers Association, Antelope Valley Bach Competition, Junior Bach Festival, Music Teachers’ Association of California Scholarship Competition, and Satori Music Festival. An avid chamber musician, she currently plays in a string quartet at the Colburn School. She enjoys sharing the joy of music with her community by performing in retirement homes and hospitals. Outside of violin, she plays the viola and is passionate about math and journalism.
