Alfred Chen, 13 years old, 8th grade student.
Alfred started his journey in music at the age of five when he found a book on his older brother’s book shelf, Teaching Little Fingers To Play by John Thomson, and followed the instructions to start playing the piano. Soon after, at the age of six, Alfred began taking piano lessons with Mrs. Yi-Fang, who has been his teacher ever since. Alfred loves classical music and spends hours practicing to hone his skills, and he has passed ABRSM exams from level 1 to 8 with distinction high scores. In addition, he participates in local piano competitions and festivals each year.
In the meantime, Alfred began taking Cello lessons in 6th grade, is a Life Scout, swims competitively, and loves tinkering with his 3D printer.
