Aurora Han

Aurora Han

My name is Aurora Han, I started to play flute in 3rd grade in China, and I’ve been playing it for 7 years without a break. I became serious about it after the first year, and my parents got me a better flute than I had, and I’m still using that flute. I came to the U.S. in 5th grade, and continued participating in the music program at school. At first the lessons at school were free, but later they were not, so my parents found private teachers, and I have been taking private lessons for six years.

Some of the highlights over the past seven years include performing with a flute quartet on CCTV, the main TV channel in China; playing in the Irvine Honor Band for two years; receiving a certificate of merit from The Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) for achieving level 10, the highest level possible; earning silver trophies from 2018 JAYMF competition; earning bronze prize in the international music competition Euterpe Music Awards 2022(EMA2022); earning first prize in the US international Open Music Competition; playing two years with The Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA); and currently, playing in the Northwood High School Orchestra for the school musical, “Willy Wonka”.
