
Dylan Matthew Hwang is currently a 6th grader at West Woods Elementary School in Farmington, Connecticut and began his piano studies at the age of 5 with Malgosia Lis at the Hartt School of Music. He is first prize winner of several piano competitions, including the Audrey Thayer MTNA competition, HMTA Virtuoso Competition, Little Mozart International Competition, and a prizewinner of several others. He made his Carnegie Hall debut performance in 2024, where he performed both solo piano and solo cello. Dylan is also an accomplished cellist and won second place in the Charleston International Competition in 2023, and currently serves as principal cellist of the Vivace Orchestra at the Hartt School of Music Community Division. Aside from music, he enjoys science and math, skiing in the winter, holds a black belt in Taekwondo, and is a competitive junior golfer.
