Emily Zhou, age 10, is a 6th grader at Newark Charter junior High. She began piano lessons at the age of 4 at University of Delaware Community Music School. Later on, Emily continued her lessons with Rebekah Waggoner at The Music School of Delaware. Currently, she is a student of Lotus Cheng since 2019. In 2022, Emily won The Grand Prix Prize in the Rising Star music festival and performed in Carnegie Hall in New York. She also received 2nd place in 2022 Delaware piano competition and 1st place in 2021 Delaware piano Competition. Emily got 1st place in Charleston 2021 Classic music competition, and 3rd place in 2020 Delaware piano Competition. She received Upper intermediate level with Superior Plus in the DSMTA Solo Piano 2021 and Superior rating in DSMTA 2022 and 2020 Solo Piano and Theory festival. In her free time, Emily also enjoys accompanying her sister Sophia’s cello recitals and had harp lessons with Margaret Love for 2 years. Along with her passion for music, Emily has been figure skating since age 4 at the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club. She has competed at freestyle and Solo Ice dance. Emily placed 6th for National Solo ice dance in 2022.
