Isabella Huang

Isabella Huang is currently 16 years old and attending Stanford Online High School as a Sophomore. She started playing piano at the age of four and started learning piano under pianist YingWen Lewis in August of 2021. As someone with a visual impairment, who must wear both contacts and glasses at the same time, she wanted to challenge herself to learn piano and never believed that she had come to enjoy playing the piano as much as she does. One of the main reasons why she fell in love with playing the piano was being able to express the feelings she could not put into words.
Her journey of learning piano has not only taught her how to adapt to situations that may not be in her favor but has also helped her gain more confidence in her abilities and helped change her perspective on her visual impairment from a negative point of view to a positive one. She was the recipient of the gold prize in the international 2023 Cambridge Music competition in the Romanic, under 17 categories as well as the recipient of the silver prize in the international 2023 Cambridge Music competition in the Young Artist under 17 categories.
In her free time, Isabella Huang enjoys reading fantasy and historical fiction, drawing, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. She is also interested in helping the blind and visually impaired community over this past summer. She volunteered at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts to learn and support for about this community further.
