My name is Jae Park, and I am a Grade 10 student at Magee Secondary School in Vancouver, Canada. I am passionate about both the violin and volleyball, and my journey as a musician is as inspiring as it is illustrious, showcasing my relentless pursuit of excellence and growth.
From a young age, I have displayed an exceptional affinity for the violin, a passion that has led me to perform with two prestigious orchestras: the Magee Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Academy of Music (VAM) Orchestra. My commitment and talent have not gone unnoticed, earning me numerous accolades. In 2024, I was awarded the Scholarship at the Kay Meek Competition, a testament to my exceptional skill and dedication. The previous year, I was named the Outstanding Performer of the Year at the Global Musical Arts Competition. My earlier achievements in 2021 include winning the Gold Medal at the North America Virtuoso International Music Competition, the Ann Lesley Bain Memorial Scholarship at the Edith Lando Gifted Youth Competition, and the Grand Prize at the Vienna Jugend Musik Wettbewerb.
My journey has not been without challenges. Initially, the prospect of performing in front of an audience filled me with anxiety. However, through countless performances and competitions, I learned to channel my nerves into energy, focusing on the music and trusting in my rigorous practice. This journey has not only shaped me as a musician but has also instilled a profound confidence that permeates all aspects of my life.
In addition to my musical endeavors, I am an active member of the Magee Junior Men’s Volleyball Team and participate in the school’s acting performance extracurricular, “Players.” My experiences on the stage and court have further honed my ability to stay composed and perform under pressure, making me a well-rounded individual with a remarkable ability to adapt and excel in various situations.
My ambition is to make a significant impact on the world. I strive to be remembered and respected for my contributions to its development and change.
