Janice Ko

Janice Ko is a 14 year old flutist. She is in 9th grade and attends Castro Valley High School in the Bay area of California. Janice began her music career when she was 5 years old, playing the piano. And, she has been playing the flute for almost 6 years. She has been taking private lessons from her primary teacher, Tina Kim, who conducts the Tina Music Group.
She won the US International Open Music Competition Awards with flute and piano. She received multiple CMEA festivals’ SUPERIOR awards with flute and got accepted to perform in the CBDA All-State Honor Band.
Janice has participated in the Bliss Charity Concert annually since she was 5 years old. And, she has been a part of the EBYO program (East Bay Youth Orchestra) for 4 years, performing as the principal flute in its Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. She has attended many concerts organized by EBYO and participated in events as a volunteer with EBYO Wind Ensemble members in 2022. She has also attended the Jenny Lin Foundation’s Music Program over the summer. She loves playing music and she hopes to be able to play for others who also share a passion for music.
