Josephine Van Hoey

Josephine has studied violin for 8 years, the past 5 with Sarah Foard in metro DC. She is an assistant concertmaster with the String Ensemble of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras for the 2020-2021 season. Previously, she co-led the violin II section for the ensemble at the American String Teachers Association National Orchestra Festival, where the ensemble earned the Grand Champion prize for middle school orchestras. In addition to studying solo and orchestral music, Josephine performs chamber, fiddle, and jazz violin in the community with small groups. At school, Josephine holds the position of principal bassist in the advanced orchestra and in the county’s Jr. Honors Orchestra.
