Kunyan Yao

Kunyan started playing piano since age five and a half, and has been learning piano for over five years now. He has a genuine passion in music and listens to all kinds of music every day. He often reads the scores on his piano books for hours and enjoys his exploration of the intriguing world of music. Kunyan has learned from Ms. Wei Tu in her private piano studio located in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, and follows the Royal Conservatory of Music Canada (RCM) Piano curriculum.
Kunyan is excited to perform in front of audience and always looks forward to concerts and contests. He has participated in several competitions, and is the receiver of multiple awards and honors, including First Place with the only full mark granted at Crescendo International Little Mozart Competition 2021. He also passed RCM Level 8 Exam with First Class Honors in Practical exam and First Class Honors with Distinction in Theory exam.
Besides his unremitting pursuit in music, Kunyan also has a keen interest in math and has been advanced in his math skills. He enjoys the logical patterns in math, which has a lot in common with music. He also loves playing Rubik’s cubes of various types and is quite athletic.
