
Liam Thomas (12) is a student of the esteemed Ms. Joan Kwuon at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, CA. He began studying violin at the young age of 2 and a half with Ms. Cecilia Coo, who instructed and guided him for 6 years. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Colburn School to further his studies with Ms. Aimee Kreston and later joined the studio of Ms. Kwuon. Liam has won several competitions, most notably the Southern California Philharmonic Young Artist Competition (2024), CalASTA- Los Angeles Bowed Strings Competition (2024), Liana Cohen Competition (2024), Charleston International Music Competition (2023), Royal Maas International Competition (2023), Southern California Junior Bach – Complete Works Audition – competition (2022), and the American Virtuoso International Music Competition (2021). He was selected through a rigorous audition process to perform in the McAllister Honors Recital (May 2024) and was admitted into the Honors Chamber Program at the Ed and Mari Edelman Chamber Music Institute (2024). Liam has been a member of the Los Angeles Youth Philharmonic since 2019, performing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall every summer, as well as Zipper Hall as a soloist with LAYP. From a very young age, Liam has performed in more than 40 churches and senior care facilities, often accompanied by his young brother and sister who play violin and piano, respectively. He is very actively involved in his community, sharing the healing and joy-bringing power of music.
