Liam Thomas (10 years old) began his musical journey at the age of 2 when he asked his parents for a violin as a birthday gift. For 6 months his parents called and searched for a violin teacher who would be interested in teaching an excited yet precocious toddler how to play violin. Through a stroke of luck and divine intervention, the family was introduced to Ms Cecile Coo Cruz of Loma Linda, CA, and Liam immediately began studying in her music studio. Liam had his first solo recital on his 4th birthday, when he performed the complete Suzuki violin book 1. For the following 6 years, Liam had the privilege of learning beautiful music and using his talent and growing skills for the enjoyment of his local community and beyond. He performed in over 20 churches, many nursing homes, LLBN TV station live programs. He has had solo performances with orchestra in the beautiful Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn School and also performed as member of the Los Angeles Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (Conductor: Dr. Gene Chung) at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, CA. He has won many 1st prize awards in various competitions, most recently the 2022 Southern California Junior Bach Complete Works Audition Competition in Long Beach, CA, as well as 1st prize in the 2021 American Virtuoso International Music Competition where he performed at the Winners’ Recital in the historic Strathmore Mansion in Maryland. Liam is currently studying at the Colburn School with Mrs. Aimee Kreston.
