Ligia Verduga

Ligia Verduga is a current Flute DMA student at UNLV in the studio of Dr. John McMurtery, and has a GA status in the Graduate School.
Was recently invited to present a Virtual series event by the NFA to present about Ecuadorian Flute repertoire on Feb 4th, 2024
The Washington Flute Society and Mid-Atlantic Convention invited her to perform and present a Lecture-Recital on the topic of Ecuadorian Music for Flute on Feb 18, 2024
Winner of the Birmingham International Music Competition 2023, Second prize in the category of Professional Flute.
Winner at Charleston Nineteen Century International Music Competition in 2022 and 2023. European category second prize, and Romantic category 1st prize.
Member of the NFA, the UMWFA, ABME, and the Washington Flute Society.
Received her MM (Masters in Music) in Flute performance from the University of Utah in May of 2022. Master’s degree in English Pedagogy from UTPL, 2022.
Finalist at Concerto Competition at the University of Utah on March 2022.
Special Guest to teach a Master Class about Ecuadorian music and Body Mapping at the International Academy Neo-Flautistica Workshop Flautistico Leonardo Grittani, Bari, Italy on December 2021, 2022, and 2023. Virtual editions. Member since 2020.
Member and special guest at Festival Internacional del Flautistas Perla del Pacifico Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2019 2020, and 2021.
Principal Flute at Utah Valley Symphony 2002, Timpanogos Symphony 2010-2012, Nebo Philharmonic 2012-2015, Salt Lake Pops 2013-2016, and Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra 1994-1999; Alternate Principal at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra 2022- today.
Featured soloist with Timpanogos Symphony 2012, Nebo Philharmonic 2015, Guayaquil Symphony 1998, 1996, and with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador in Quito, Ecuador.
Special guest invited several times to the International Flute Festival in the Middle of the World 1994-1999.
Received her Bachelor’s degree from UTPL in Spanish Literature in 1999
Won several local Musical competitions in Ecuador from 1985-1999
Graduated from Music Conservatory Antonio Neumane Guayaquil Ecuador in 1998.
