Mary Elyse Philbrick

Mary Philbrick is 12 years old and lives in rural coastal Maine. She has been playing violin since the age of 3 and piano since the age of 9. Her enjoyment of music began early in a household full of sound. Her first violin teacher was Kaity Newell, studying Suzuki method and fiddle music, and then Yasmin Vitalius of the Portland Symphony Orchestra. Her piano teacher is Jennifer McIvor. Mary also studies ballet and enjoys jazz dancing. Mary has been a member of the Seacoast Youth and Community Orchestra in Damariscotta, Maine, the Oyster Creek Fiddlers, Pineland Fiddlers, and Bay Chamber Music School for several years. She has attended the Sonatina piano camp for three summers and the Envision chamber music program for four summers, the New England Suzuki Institute program for six summers and Maine Fiddle Camp for five summers. Winner of the late elementary division of the Maine Pine Tree competition, and First prize winner of the Charleston Spring music competition 2023 on violin.
