Minseong Joo

I was born in Seoul, South Korea, on July 1st, 2005. I lived there for most of my life until I moved to Cary, North Carolina in 2015. There I lived for another 3 years until I started playing the piano. The reason I started playing the piano was because I wanted to play an instrument going into highschool. My brother was playing the violin, and I wanted to duet with him. At first I thought of playing the cello, or the flute, or even the violin. However, after hearing the piano and all the sounds and music it could make, I decided to go with the piano. In the beginning, I started my lessons with my neighborhood teacher. She taught me basics like reading music, fingerings, and she also taught me to play some Czerny, and Hanon. After taking lessons with her for about half a year, she told me to move on to a bigger teacher. After searching for a while I decided to take lessons from Dr. Choi. Thanks to Dr. Choi, I was able to progress greatly. Thanks to him I was able to win my first competition at 1st place in Raleigh Piano Teachers Association (young artist). I was also able to perform at many recitals, and charity events. Last year I was able to win 1st place at the ECU piano competition, and this year I was able to win 1st at the UNCSA competition and 1st in the Raleigh Piano Teachers Association (concerto). I hope to further my study and deepen my knowledge of music in the future. Thank you!
