Olivia Minji Yang

Olivia Minji Yang is 8 years old and a 2nd grader at Basis Tucson Primary.
At age 3, Olivia started piano lessons with her mother, Dr. Ji-Young Kim and within 4 years, she has successfully completed level 4 of Arizona Study Program and Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate Program. In 2022, she was awarded a gold medal for the Southwest Celebration of Excellence for her outstanding exam result (RCM). In Spring 2023, Olivia was the first place winner in the Spring Music Competition as well as the 20th Century Music Competition held by Charleston International Competition.
One month before her 4th birthday, Olivia started violin lessons with Ms. Evgeniya Belinskaya and since August 2022, she has been studying violin with Ms. Wynne Wong-Rife. At age 6, Olivia joined the Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s Young Composers Project under the guidance Ms. Betsy Bright and her string quintet, “Cat Party” was performed by TSO in May, 2023.
Olivia enjoys learning a Korean martial art, Dang Soo Do, loves dancing, reading, improvising on both piano and violin and painting.
