Olivia Minji Yang is 7 years old and a 1st grader at Basis Tucson Primary in Arizona. At age 3, Olivia started piano lessons with her mother, Dr. Ji-Young Kim and within 3 years, she has successfully completed level 3 of Arizona Study Program and Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate Program. In 2022, she was awarded a gold medal for the Southwest Celebration of Excellence for her outstanding exam result (RCM). One month before her 4th birthday, she started violin lessons with Ms. Evgeniya Belinskaya and is currently studying violin with Ms. Wynne Wong-Rife. Olivia is also a member of Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s Young Composers Project under the guidance Ms. Betsy Bright and Olivia’s string quintet, “Cat Party” will be performed by TSO in May, 2023.
Olivia enjoys learning a Korean martial art, Dang Soo Do, and loves dancing, reading, improvising on both piano and violin and painting.
