Puru started playing piano when he was 5 and learned the basic of playing piano with his former piano teacher Mrs. Stephine. When he was 6 he started lessons with his new piano teacher Mr. Hartman and have continued with him since then. Puru plays other instruments including the violin, trumpet and guitar. He played the violin with the Montgomery/Bridle Path Orchestra for three concerts. He won second place for the final round of the 2022 Crescendo International Music competition at Merkin Hall in March 2023 and fourth place in Charleston International Music Competition in 2022.
