Samuel Matthew Miller

Samuel Miller has been playing violin since he was 3 years old. He studies with Leonora Reesor privately and with Shauna Smith at American Fork High School. Samuel has been invited to perform five times at Carnegie Hall. He has placed in numerous string competitions, including first place in the Crescendo Strings Competition, solo and duet categories; first place in the Little Mozart Competition, solo and duet categories; first place in the American Protégé International Competition, solo and duet categories; and third place in the Charleston International European Music Competition. Sam has made the Utah All State Orchestra each year for the past three years, earning second chair last year. He has exclusively received superior ratings in Utah’s State Solo and Ensemble festival on violin for the past two years, performing solos and with string ensembles each of those years. Sam has also been an invited soloist twice with the Albemarle Symphony Orchestra, and is currently a part of the Utah Valley Youth Symphony orchestra as a principal violinist. Samuel loves to make music with his performing group, The Maple Mountain Camerata, and with his twin sister. When not performing, Samuel is found studying chemistry or playing chess. Samuel also plays the French horn and was third chair in the Utah All State Wind Symphony last year.
