A native of Austin Texas, Scott Avant is a Miami based trombonist where he is currently the TA for the trombone studio and working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts under the instruction of Professor Tim Conner at the Frost School of Music. Before moving to Miami in 2022, Scott performed regularly with orchestras, jazz, and musical companies throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Scott was the acting principal trombonist for the McKinney Philharmonic for several years, and has performed with the New World Symphony, Lexington Philharmonic, Amarillo Philharmonic, West Texas Symphony, and Richardson Symphony. Additionally, Scott performed with many musical companies on productions such as: The Adams Family, The Sound of Music, Cinderella, Legally Blonde the Musical, Fame, Cabaret, The SpongeBob SquarePants Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hello Dolly, West Side Story, among others. An avid teacher, Scott taught many students who excelled by auditioning into the All-Region bands, TMEA All-State Solo & Ensemble competitions, local community bands and orchestras, and won positions with The North Texas Youth Orchestra.
