Simon Fass started piano lessons at the age of 6 in Williamsburg, Virginia, and continues to play under the tutelage of Sharon Stewart of Richmond, Virginia. Playing the hammered dulcimer, he provides music at weddings and has accompanied his Irish-dancing sister with reels, jigs, and hornpipes. On the piano, he enjoys blues, pop, classical, and jazz music and performs duets with his sister. He placed first prize in his age group at the International Bach Competition for Modern Music. He has competed and placed in the winner’s circle in both the Sonata Festivals and Bach Festivals of the Richmond Music Teachers Association. He and his sister perform hour-long musical variety shows at retirement residences in the summer. He can also be found on the basketball court or tennis court or swimming pool where he swims year-round. He also likes to read philosophy, write, and debate.
