The Estampes is a collection of prints, piano sets. It was written by French composer Debussy in 1903. It consists of three pieces titled “Pagodas”, “The Evening in Granada” and “Gardens in the Rain”. They all draw from natural scenery, and express subjective impression in the sensory world, full of poetic meaning. The music makes extensive use of pentatonic scale, dance rhythm, and freely extended form structure, which is a fine work of the composer in the mature period of creation.
