Yechong (Eric) Shan

Yechong (Eric) Shan began piano studies in his native city of Shanghai, China and continued his studies with Dr. Ivona Kaminska and Dr. Alexander Tutunov after moving to Washington State. His most recent awards include first prize in the Washington State Outstanding Artist Competition in 2018, silver medalist and teacher’s favorite prize in Seattle International Piano Festival in 2019, first place in Simon Fiset Competition in 2019 and 2021, third place in 2020 WSMTA Outstanding Artist Competition senior division, first place in 2022 Carmel Klavier International Piano Festival solo category, joint-winner of the NLMF Concerto Competition in Minnesota, gold in 2022 Russian Chamber Music Foundation of Seattle Competition, platinum in North American Virtuoso International Music Competition piano solo category and gold medals in SIPF Bach Festivals, Classical Festivals and Virtuoso Festivals. Outside of playing piano, Eric composes and produces different genres of music, receiving numerous recognitions for his original pieces. He also enjoys hiking, skiing, and travelling.
