My name is Yerin Ahn. I was born on March 17, 1995 in Seoul in Korea. I was interested in artistic things such as rhythmic gymnastics, art when I was young and distinguished myself.
At the age of five, I was greatly influenced by my mother, who was a choir at church, and I started to learn piano and violin. I liked to make my own music because I have my own flexible skills and excellent rhythm.
When I was attending an art high school, my teacher told me that I was very quick at learning. At that time, I was very into Chopin’s music, and I could see how much I loved his music by studying all pieces of Chopin ballads, especially during university. It is no exaggeration to say that his music affects all of my music now.
After I graduated art high school, I studied at Seokyeong University in Korea with a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Studying my first master’s program in Korea completely changed my music style. Furthermore, I became interested in contemporary American music and dreamed of studying in the U.S more firmly.
Currently, I am in my second year of Master’s degree, and studying with Professor Andrius Zlabys at Boston University, and I committed to my studies to enter the DMA.
My goal is to build a lot of performance experience on the global stage by creating a wider repertoire in the future.
