Yihan Duan started playing the piano at the age of 5 and currently studies piano with Dr. Svetlana Arakelova. He has been invited to perform on piano at various venues in Tucson, including the Basis Tucson Primary School Variety Show, KUDOS (Kids Up-Dating Outstanding Skills) Tucson East and Rachmaninoff Music Academy Annual Recital. In 2021, he won first place at the Winter Season 2022 Rocky Mountain Keyboard Competition, Young Musicians, Category, 7 – 8 years old, Advanced (Highly competitive) difficulty level. In 2022, he won first prize at 2022 Charleston Spring Music Competition (Ages 8 & under). He also won first place in TMTA 2022 Merit Scholarship, Category Solo A 3rd Grade and under. In 2023, he won 2nd place in TMTA 2023 Merit Scholarship, category Solo B 4th through 6th Grade. In addition to that, he received honorable mention in 2023 Arizona State Honors Recital, category Elementary 2.
