The Spiritoso Piano Ensemble, created in 2020, consists of the pianists Vivian Nguyen and Alexander Xie from the Bay Area. Both are individuals with a strong passion for playing music and have started their piano journey since they were 4 years old. Alexander is a freshman at The Quarry Lane School, and Vivian is an 8th grader at Diablo Vista Middle School.
Alexander and Vivian have had many notable achievements such as winning the Grand Prix and First Place Prizes at various competitions including the New York Concert Festival International Competition, US Open Music, US International, and the Music Through Centuries Competition. One of their most memorable achievements was performing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall when they were 9 years old as Grand Prix Prize Winners. This year, they won first place in both the US International Music Competition and the Outstanding Gold Medalist Award at the US Open Music Competition for the Showcase Duo Intermediate category.
Besides playing piano, they both have various hobbies. In his free time, Alexander enjoys creating music, while Vivian participates in various debate events. Alexander and Vivian have shared their music with the community by performing at senior centers through the Music4America Organization, and hope to continue spreading the joy of music within their community. Alexander and Vivian appreciate a broad range of music styles and repertoires as each music period presents unique characteristics which they both love to explore and master.
