Ayla Erdem Richards

Ever since I can remember, I have played some kind of musical instrument. I began playing violin when I was two years old and I started playing piano at the age of four. As I got older, my appreciation for piano grew, and so did my love of music. I slowly realized the value of being able to express myself through what I was playing and saw the healing powers of music. Throughout my career, I have won multiple competitions, three of which were consecutive wins in the national piano competition Golden Key, after which I was given the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall. I also won two Charleston Competitions, one of which I got a second ranking on and the other which I got a first ranking. I have and continue to expand my knowledge of music to other instruments including guitar and ukulele, and I hope to continue to learn to play as many instruments as possible before going off to college and majoring in musical studies.
