Clark Fan

Clark Fan, from Charlotte, NC, is a sophomore at Charlotte Latin School. Playing piano throughout his childhood, he won many first prizes at the Piano Solo State NCFMC Scholarship Competition, Regional Concerto Competition, and the 2018 Division I Steinway & Sons Piano Competition. Later, Clark fell in love with the cello. At age ten, he began studying under Alan Black, the former principal cellist of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. In 2022 and 2023, Clark placed as a finalist in the Young Artists Competition of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and in 2024, won the competition, allowing him to perform a solo with the Youth Orchestras of Charlotte. In addition, Clark was chosen as second place in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition in 2022 and 2023 and was invited to play at Carnegie Hall. He won first place twice in the Charleston International Music Competition and during the summers of 2023 and 2024, he spent multiple weeks at the Heifetz International Music School, studying under many renowned cellists. Clark was also seated as principal cellist during North Carolina’s All-State Orchestra and is currently the principal cellist of the Charlotte Youth Orchestra. In his free time, Clark enjoys exercising and spending time with his friends.
