Daniel Doowon Lee

Daniel Lee is a 10th grader at Thomas Wootton High School and has played the cello since he was eight years old. He has participated in Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra since he was in 4th grade and is currently a member of the Kamerata orchestra. He won 1st place in the Elite International Music Competition as well as Crescendo International Music Competition in 2021 and was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. Daniel also won 2nd place at Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition in 2023 and at the Charleston International Music Competition in 2020 and 2021. He was also selected to participate in All State Ensemble in 2022 and 2023. More recently, Daniel has received an Honorable Mention in the 2023 U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition and was invited to participate in the Winners’ concert. He has volunteered to play the cello for seniors at nursing homes with other members of the Young Musician Inspiring Change since 2016. He has also performed at the under-privileged community with other members of the New Life Foundation orchestra since 2020.
